While our life does not return to normal, we take the opportunity to go scanning the summer trends that is getting closer and closer. And there is no garment more characteristic of summer than dresses. So if you want to renew your closet for the new season, we tell you the dresses that are trending this summer 2020.

Crossed dresses

Since Diane Von Furstenberg created the wrap dress back in the 70s, they have become a basic. It was the best-seller of 1975 and although they went somewhat unnoticed for a few years, they are now an indispensable piece of every woman’s closet. They flatter all body types and are very versatile. They are suitable for everyday wear, for events, to dress casually on the weekend, to go to work more formal … In addition, they change season very easily and can cover from spring to autumn depending on how we combine them;

Kaftan dresses

The kaftans are the perfect alternative to the summer dress. They relate to the hippie decade of the 1960s and the glam aesthetic of the 1970s. In the 2000s, with the rise of the boho style, they became fashionable again, but it had already been a few years since they seemed to have left our closets. Loose and rectangular, similar to a tunic, they usually stand out for their colorful and for their ethnic and floral prints. They can be adjusted with a belt to mark the waist or left loose.

Shirt dresses

The shirt dress was born in the 70s, almost at the same time as the wrap dress and with the same objective: to find a comfortable and versatile garment that women could wear both for work and for leisure. Over time, this union of skirt and shirt has undergone many variations: different lengths, different sleeves, with and without a belt… Although the common denominator remains the same: central buttoning and shirt collar

Pullover dresses

The jersey dresses give a twist to one of the most basic garments of our closet to turn it into another. T-shirts, thin sweaters, sweatshirts… all of them with an oversize silhouette and XXL length become dresses that can be worn with or without pants

Slip dress

The slip dress was the most iconic of the 90s, a decade marked by minimalism, grunge and Kate Moss, present in the collective imagination dressed in these silk dresses, cut on the bias and thin straps. The same period in which Calvin Klein brought out a whole collection based on loungewear in its spring-summer 1994 fashion show;

This option for comfort, basics and mixing streetwear and sleepwear in the same garment has become even stronger with the confinement and the rise of teleworking. We have been talking about this obligation to adapt our style of dress in Horse for the last few days.

White dresses with color applications

The catwalks have been full of dresses, but among all of them stand out the white dresses. Oscar de la Renta, Prada, Lacoste… have included them in their collections with very different shapes, although with a couple of common denominators: natural fabrics, almost always cotton, and long or midi. And of course, touches of color in straps, bangs, belts…

Skirts and trouser dresses

Among all the dresses that are trending for this summer 2020, skirts and trouser dresses are perhaps the most out of the mold. These hybrids follow the style line of jersey dresses although with more varied shapes and a slightly more formal look.
