We have prepared a selection of highlights for October 2019 to make the new autumn much brighter than we imagined. As always, there’s a little bit of everything and with the pinch of quality and glamour that should characterise any Premium proposal. See for yourself:

Pink Floyd among the highlights for October

Pink Floyd Exhibition has been surprising all visitors to IFEMA for several months. It is therefore not surprising that it is extending its stay at the Madrid exhibition centre and will remain there until 27 October. We are pleased about this here. It gives us the opportunity to include such a visual and musical event in our highlights for October.

The Wall by Pink Floyd

Because if anything has characterised Pink Floyd’s rock, it is their audiovisual approach, which has not only included some of the most impressive LPs of recent decades, such as The Dark Side of the Moon. He has also created graphic myths such as the covers of his albums or the memorable film The Wall. And this entire audiovisual universe is present in this exhibition.

Frieze London Art Fair

At Horse we are always on the lookout for the best contemporary art fairs and it’s not unusual for us to dedicate exclusive reports to the most renowned ones, such as Art Basel and its franchises. Well, among these key art fairs on the world calendar is also Frieze in London, which this year’s edition will take place between 3 and 6 October.

Faithful to his appointment, he returns with the autumn Frieze London to Regent’s Park

In Frieze London more than 160 galleries from all over the world will be present and in total the work of a thousand current creators from the most varied disciplines will be on display. And all of this in the very centre of London, more specifically in the Regent’s Park area. Incidentally, a foretaste of the fair is that more than twenty international artists have been exhibiting their sculptures in these elegant gardens throughout the summer.

Gastronomic rendezvous in Tuscany

Also in these October highlights we have a recommendation for the most sybaritic palates. The place is the beautiful medieval village of Certaldo in the always attractive region of Tuscany, and the time is the 4th, 5th and 6th of October, dates of the Boccaccesca, an event where you can taste some of the most exquisite delicacies of Italian gastronomy.

Chianti wine cannot be missing at a gastronomic fair in Tuscany

If we talk about Tuscany and culinary traditions, it is clear that Chianti wines are among the protagonists of this fair. But there is much more. There is room for the best market garden of central Italy or its oils, as well as its meats and sausages. With such ingredients, tastings, show cooking, a market, tasty concerts and even a laboratory of avant-garde transalpine cuisine have been programmed.

Berlin shines like never before

Autumn nights in the German capital are different, it’s time for the Berlin Leuchtet Festival. An event that makes this city shine in a special way. A shine worthy of appearing in our highlights for October. So if you’re planning a trip to Berlin in the near future, we recommend you do so between 9 and 20 October, when this very special evening event takes place.

The Berlin cathedral is one of the monumental displays of this festival of lights

During these dates, the main monuments of the German capital, including the historic Brandenburg Gate, the spectacular Gendarmenmarkt square or the sumptuous Cathedral become gigantic screens. On them, the best audiovisual artists of the moment project works created for the occasion, enveloping the city in a special and literally unique atmosphere, because every night is unrepeatable.

The works of Lluis Bassat in Seville

Since 27 September, the Bassat Collection created by the Catalan publicist and his wife have temporarily left their stablished headquarters in Mataró, and have travelled to the Sala Murillo of the Cajasol Foundation in Seville. There they will be on display until 24 November this year in an exhibition entitled Bassat Collection at the Nau Gaudí in Mataró.

Bassat himself didn’t want to miss the opening of the exhibition and on 27 September he gave a talk, the title of which says it all: “The art we love”. That is to say, his collection is not that of an expert, nor that of a critic, but that of a lover of contemporary art who has been able to accumulate some three thousand works since 1968. A collection of paintings, sculptures and graphic works featuring names such as Picasso, Miró, Chillida, Léger, Calder, Christo, Tàpies, Barceló and Saura.

Voyage to Paris and the seas of the world

We often mention Parisian museums and their attractive art, fashion and design exhibitions. However, in our highlights for October we are going to recommend a museum that is not very common in our magazine. We are referring to the National Museum of Natural History. There you can see one of the most fascinating exhibitions of recent times in the French capital, an exhibition that takes us diving through the oceans of the world.

Exploring the oceans without leaving a Paris museum

The success of this exhibition is such that it opened last April and will last until 5 January 2020. It is a montage that immerses us in the oceanic waters to discover the secrets of this aquatic world of which we know so little. A mind-blowing aquatic world that will amaze everyone, including the little ones, as the show is also designed for children over the age of 5.

100 years of tapestries in Sant Cugat

We finish the highlihts for October with a proposal that is actually timeless. The fact is that this very 2019 the Cal Quitèria Contemporary Textile Art Centre opened in Sant Cugat. A place that was born with the vocation of remembering the close relationship between this town and the textile world. And it has finally seen the light with this exhibition 100 years of tapestry in Sant Cugat.

The project has not been easy, as its initial promoter, the artist Josep Grau-Garriga, promoted it until his death in 2011 and never saw it completed. For this reason, the new installation proudly recalls the name of this creator whose work has been exhibited at the MoMA and the Musée Moderne de la Ville de Paris. A new centre of which we will be very attentive to its upcoming activities to keep you informed.

In fact, at Horse we have set out to continue informing you about all those artistic and cultural manifestations that inspire us, excite us and interest us. We hope that the same thing happens to you with our proposals.
